It celebrates the contributions that volunteer SKYWARN radio operators make to the National Weather Service. During the day SKYWARN operators visit NWS offices and contact other radio operators across the world. <i> I attended <a href=http:\/\/www.livejournal.com\/users\/shedberg\/2005\/05\/17\/>SKYWARN training<\/a> back in May 2005 &#8211; my Spotter ID is VHAM120.<\/i><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ni0l.com\/pictures\/usmap2005.jpg\"><br \/>\n<b>Object<\/b> For all amateur stations to exchange QSO information with as many National Weather Service Stations as possible on 80, 40, 20, 15, 10, 6, and 2 meter bands plus the 70 centimeter band. Contacts via repeaters are permitted. SKYWARN Recognition Day serves to celebrate the contributions to public safety made by amateur radio operators during threatening weather.<\/p>\n<p><i>I was able to make two contacts on 20 Meters using PSK31 to NWS stations: WX8MQT in Marquette, MI and WX7GGW in Glasglow, MT &#8211; indicated by the red circles above.
